Precious Moment In The Mountain : Mount Tangisan

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#16) : Mount Tangisan

I am a member of mountaineering group in my country wherein we used to help and aid group of people and mostly students who live in remote areas that does not have easy access of help from other charity groups. Unlike other communities that easily receive help and easily reach out by other non-government group we made a simple vow to help others. Because we used to climb mountains and we are exposed in difficulties, challenges and quite adventurer, our group combined some of the climbs with charity events. There were cases that it’s only charity focus. When we went to San Pedro in San Jose, Tarlac we did a charity activities for the students in the area. The place is actually quite remote as we passed huge farm and to my surprise I never expected such community as no concrete roads towards the place, we drove long rough road in the middle of farms. Beside the community, Mount Tangisan is also to be found. Since it’s near the area, the group decided to trek the mountain. Photo above captured last July 2012.

When I got a chance to return to my country while I was assigned in Australia for work, I grabbed the opportunity to visit some part of my country which really famous to both local and foreign tourist. I am referring to Coron Island. Coron Island per Philippine Geography information is part of Calamian Group of Islands which located at Northern part of Palawan province. The said island is not only popular for its pristine beaches but also of its paradise lakes which hidden inside the island itself. Kayangan Lake is one of the lakes that are hidden and before you will be able to see it, there is a little bit of trek which is worth to be doing to see the paradise scenery. After Mount Apo trek, I stayed in Davao for another 3 days so that I can see more of Davao. One of my mountaineer friends stayed behind as well as he will also spend holidays in Davao at that time. One of the side trip that I did with my friend were water tubing and snorkelling in Santa Cruz Davao del Sur. Sibulan River was the river we visited to experience water tubing and the whole group enjoyed the adventure with the rapids of the river. Photo captured last March 2009.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#14) : Mount Apo Boulders

Mount Apo is the Highest Mountain in my country. I only knew this mountain by its name and by being the highest mountain. I never imagine before that time will come that I will be able to reach the summit of this mountain. I will never forget a risk life climb that I experienced on this magnificent mountain. Photo above was the boulder parts before reaching the crater and summit of the mountain which captured last March 2009.

View At My Window (Post#13) : Wawa River

One of the place that I loved is Rodriguez Rizal because of the combination of panoramic natures that I was able to witness when I attended Basic Rappelling Course conducted by the mountaineering group where I belong. I was there before it hit Metro Manila by one of the major typhoon named Ondoy (local name) last 2009. After that event I am not sure if the same panorama that I witness are still there, I hope time will come it will return to what it was. Photo above is the Wawa River last September 2009 where the water came from Wawa Dam (previous dam that supply Metro Manila for its water resource until it was replaced by Angat Dam).

One of the many things that I really appreciate when I joined the mountaineering group is to discover the beauty of my country on its own. We made a tour in san Pablo Laguna because of the Seven (7) Lakes that it has. All the Seven Lakes are near to each other. One of the Seven Lakes is Kalibato Lake where we did a little bit of trek going down to the lake. I was not disappointed after seeing the view above. Mount Banahaw is the tallest mountain in CALABARSON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon Provinces) area. Photo captured last September 2011.

During my three days holiday in Davao after climbing Mount Apo, one of the itinerary was to visit Jack’s Ridge in Davao City. Jack’s Ridge  was historical place during World War II, the time when Japanese retreated at the said place until they lost their fight against Americans. Photo captured last March 2009.

Precious Moment In The Mountain : Mount Cristobal

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#11) : Mount Cristobal

One of our preparation or training climb before conquering Mount Apo (The Highest Mountain in the Philippines) was Mount Cristobal climb. The said training was held last February 2009. Mount Cristobal was quite challenging mountain as there were some trails where we need to walk huge rocks full of moss which quite tricky as one wrong move will result to accident and injuries. One thing that I will never forget on this mountain was the part that we took a narrow trail, the side of it is a high cliff that one mistake life may cost it. Another thing that I never expect was we were depending on solid roots of the trees that strayed in the trail that helped us to grip and hold on to ourselves while passing the treacherous track. Photo above was just one of the views to see while inside Mount Cristobal.

My old post detailed the experienced I had when we climb Mount Cristobal.

Home (Post#10): Cagayan De Oro River

When we set to climb Mount Hibok-Hibok in Camiguin Island, the whole group flew to Cagayan de Oro where we will take the boat to Camiguin. And since we were already in Cagayan de Oro or famously known as CDO, we did a side trip in the place. The photo above was taken during white water rafting last October 2012. I learned from our guide, that the river serves as natural boundary between Bukidnon and Iligan, and between Bukidnon and Cagayan de Oro. Our adventure categorized as medium level based on where we started the rafting in the river. While doing the adventure I was really fascinated how wild the river is, how beautiful and clean it is. I actually fall in love with the river.

2015 New Year’s Celebration : At Philippine Arena

IMG_0475 IMG_0492

To welcome year 2015, though today is 3rd day of January, I felt like sharing how I celebrated the switching of year 2014 and 2015. Commonly I celebrated new year at home because the eve of the new year is the season where most of my family are complete or almost complete. I also experienced celebrating New Year’s eve in Singapore to witness fireworks during holiday vacation and when I worked in that country before. This time, I bought tickets for myself and my family to attend charity concert at Philippine Arena to celebrate New Year’s eve and to watched 30-minutes fireworks.

Philippine Arena

My country has now the biggest indoor arena in the world and it is named as Philippine Arena which located at Ciudad de Victoria in Bocaue, Bulacan Province. Before the night of the concert celebration, since I was there earlier time, I had a chance to walk around the vicinity area where the biggest covered dome is located to check and see its surrounding. I walked around the arena, walked quite far to see how it look like and I felt that anywhere I go, I always had a great view of the dome. It’s really beautiful even I was standing at different corner to see different angle of the arena I am still pretty amazed how it was planned and designed.

Philippine Sports Stadium

During my walk I also found another existing structure in the area named as Philippine Stadium and the ongoing construction of Philippine Sports Complex.

Tent City At the Back of Philippine Arena for the visitors that will celebrate the new year

Though I am not an architect I can see how it was carefully thought and planned. The arena is owned by one of the Christian religious organization (Iglesia Ni Cristo / Church Of Christ) in my country and not owned by the government, it is open to public and huge events. One of big events that already happened in the arena was the concert that I attended and current season of basketball game in my country (Philippine Basketball Association – PBA games).

The following local artists performed in the concert were Bamboo, KZ Tandingan, Morisette, Enrique Gil, Sam Concepcion, Brisom and Tempura Kidz (from Japan). Chris Brown was the main artist but for some reason, he canceled his performance few hours before the event.

2015 New Year’s Eve Fireworks and Confetti

After the concert, we witnessed the new year’s countdown and the fireworks display both sides of the arena to welcome 2015.

I have great hopes and dreams for my country even though my country are battling with many challenges, problems and issues in different aspects, I always look on the good sides of my country because in this way I can help my country and my fellow Filipinos to uplift and to promote how beautiful my country is even in a small ways.

Happy 2015 to Everyone !!!

Gulugud Baboy Mountain was the first mountain that I climbed in my country which located in Mabini in Batangas Philippines. Year 2008 was the year that I was reminded how I really love mountains. The climb was my first fun climb and second mountain that I trekked. Gulugud Baboy Mountain climb left so many memories for myself and for my group that I joined in. The trek happened last October 2008 and the snapshot was during the sunrise that we waited at the summit of the mountain.
