Photos of the day are all about Masonic Hall or Freemason’s Hall. Based on the tablet in the wall that can be seen in the building, the heritage building was built for the independent Order of Oddfellows in 1887, then sold in 1925 to a similar society, the Freemasons. The building became Lodge No.5 of the Grand Lodge of Western Australia. And its architectural design categorized as Victorian Classical Revival Style. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Photos of the day are all about about York Motor Museum. At first, this building was known as Windsor Building after Mr. J.C. Windsor who built it in 19th century. But then, it was mostly known as Ford Dealership in Western Australia. Currently, the building is now served as York Motor Museum since 1981, when Peter Briggs and James Harwood founded the museum in 1979 to display their collection of 140 vehicles. The museum also displays the finest private collections of veteran, vintage, classic and racing cars in Australia. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Theme (Post#17) : Heritage Building – The Old Backpackers & Union Bank

Photos of the day are all about Old Backpackers & Union Bank Building, as I do not have photos of it separately so I combine featuring them here. First, about Old Backpackers, is one of the building that had been re-purposed many times. If only walls can talk, most likely it already told us a lot of things happened inside the building. This building started as Gentleman’s club in 1884, then it became Dinsdale Shop (after owners William and Alfred Dinsdale) and also run as a temperance boarding house by Mrs. Charlotte Pyke – wife of Albert Pyke (manager of Settler’s House). It also became antique restorer, a shirt factory, a tailor, a saddler, an importer, a wartime tent-making factory and a block of flats. Most recently it housed a backpackers’ hostel. And finally about Union Bank building, it’s almost the same with Old Backpackers with lots of functional history. This building, was branch of Union Bank of Australia in 1878. From 1951 to 1996, it became an Australia and New Zealand Bank branch. After that, it became a jewelry shop and factory. And currently the building is a veterinary clinic. Both buildings still standing at this time and its amazing how these buildings passed through more than hundred years of time. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Photos of the day are all about Western Australian Bank. This heritage building considered to remain the same since 1889 and has always been a bank ever since. It was home for decades for York branch of Western Australian Bank (now Bankwest), then followed by Bank of New South Wales, Challenge, and Westpac banks. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Theme (Post#15) : Heritage Building – Settlers Front Shop & Gift Shop

Photos of the day are all about Settlers Front Shop & Gift Shop. The photos captured here were all along Avon Terrace, but in reality these are not the only buildings included as Settlers House & Village because it actually composed of units of rooms for accommodation and a courtyard which I missed to see and missed to capture photos because I only walked along Avon Terrace road. The path to the settlers house village are between Settlers Gift Shop and Settlers Front Shop and just behind it, the Settlers House & Village. One of the thing that was fascinating to learn was that these were also owned by Craig family (the one who owns the Castle Hotel, which I mentioned from previous photo post), specifically bought by widowed Mary Craig. She saw an opportunity on the business. And in 1877, it was leased by George Inkpen for district’s first newspaper – Eastern District Chronicle. Then, Inkpen family bought the property in 1929 where the whole building called as Inkpen Building. Only in 1972 where its name change to Settler’s House. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Theme (Post#14) : Heritage Building – York & Districts Co-Op

Photos of the day are all about York & Districts Co-Op. It is one of the heritage building in the town since people have been buying grocers here since 1872 when William Edwards Junior constructed the single story and moved here from his previous store near in Castle Hotel. His sons named Charles and Kenneth continued the business until 1936. The interior of the building has been changed to accommodate the needs of modern  supermarket but, outside of it such as balustrades and archways that framed the original verandah are still visible. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Theme (Post#13) : Heritage Building – The Davies Building

Photos of the day are all about The Davies Building which located opposite direction of Sargent’s Pharmacy, still in the corner of Avon Terrace and South Street. This heritage building built in 1908 was the improved former business Garden Valley Fruit Palace that was built in 1903 which owned by the same person William Thomas Davies. Laurie Davies, son of the family has been requested by the mayor of York at that time that the two face clock may be installed in Town Hall instead at Davies Building but Laurie did not agree since only one face will be seen in the clock, that clock is still visible along Avon Terrace. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

Theme (Post#12) : Heritage Building – Imperial Hotel (York, WA)

Photos of the day are all about 132 years old Imperial Hotel located at the old town of York in Western Australia. The hotel was closed down for years and its one of the national heritage building to see while walking along Avon Terrace (main street of York). During the tour, the building still closed. It was recently reopened this year after it was bought and renovated by group of farmers in the town with the spirit to revived tourism. Currently, the hotel combines restaurant and accommodation business to attract guests and visitors. Based on history Imperial Hotel was built in 1886 during the gold rush period of the state and has Victorian Filigree style. I can say that the hotel is located strategically in the town as its also near in the railway station in Juaquina Street. These photos are part of Wheatbelt Region Tour October 2016.

One side trip that we did during the day tour at Taroko National Park was a short stop at Hualien Der-Yen Beach which located near Hualien Airport. At the time of our visit, I felt the cold-windy air of the beach, saw the wild waves back and fort to the shore and heard its waves which gave me a good feeling at the end of the day. These photos are part of Taiwan Experimental Travel Adventure Photo Collection January 2017.

Theme (Post#9) : Beach – Coogee Beach

The last beach I reached for the walking trail that I took is Coogee Beach. The volume of people I found in Bondi seems to be similar in Coogee. And seeing people in the beach, everyone was having a great time. The name of Coogee is said to be taken from a local Aboriginal word “koojah” which means “smelly place”. The photo is part of Sydney Walking Tour April 2014.

This is one of the beach that quite unique because its not similar to the beaches that I found in my walk as this one is where The Gordons Bay Underwater Nature Trail can be found which is the spot for self-guided for snorkeling and scuba diving adventures. The photo is part of Sydney Walking Tour April 2014.

So far, I already enjoyed three beaches, my walks hasn’t stopping yet. As I see the walking trail still there, my pace continues. I was amazed about the trail. And I still surprised after I found the fourth beach in front of me and that is Clovelly Beach. The beach was known as Little Coogee and renamed after the village of Clovelly on the north Devon coast, England. The photo is part of Sydney Walking Tour April 2014.

So my walk continues after passing Tamarama Beach. I never expected that the walk will give me a chance to see different beaches in Sydney. I admired the city as it does not have only one beach near the metropolis but more than that. Anyone can immediately see a different sceneries aside from city buildings by just few kilometers driving from it. The name of the beach was came from Duke of Bronte, military figure Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson. The photo is part of Sydney Walking Tour April 2014.

After enjoying my walk around and after appreciating the fascinating views of Bondi Beach, my pace moved forward not knowing what’s next to see or discover. Then, I saw another shore similar to Bondi but smaller one. And I saw there were people swimming, surfing and just lying on the ground beach enjoying the sun. I just reached Tamarama Beach in Waverly an eastern suburb of Sydney. Tamarama came from aboriginal word ‘Gamma Gamma’ which means ‘Storm’. The beach is also considered the most dangerous patrolled beach in New South Wales. The photo is part of Sydney Walking Tour April 2014.

Theme (Post#3) : Gold Store – Dubai Gold Souk Store

“Souk” in Dubai means “Traditional Market”. When I had an almost a week training in Dubai, I grabbed that opportunity to stay for a couple more days to explore Dubai and my expenses on it will be cover by myself. One of the traditional tour that I visited is Dubai Gold Souk. In my opinion, I can sense that countries in the desert, there are tantamount stores for gold and Dubai or let say UAE which is a desert country is one of them. While walking around the area of Gold Souk, we felt awe that there are too many stores selling gold products and the like which looks like the other products being sell in the market without anymore differences. It’s overwhelming because we are not talking just a common store but a gold. Photo captured during my holidays in Dubai last

Theme (Post#2) : Classic Car – 1923 Chenard et Walcker 3L Roadster

I am not really a car enthusiast since I never know how to drive, but when it comes to classic cars I have this great curiosity what they really look like since I was born at the time where these classic vehicles are now seldom to see in the road and if I will see it, it is definitely a great luck. As per the information near the vintage car, the name of the car was came from a railway engineer and maker of bicycles with a factory in Asnieres-sur-Seine named Ernest Chenard whom joined with mining engineer Henri Walcker in 1898 to make motor vehicles. They formally founded Chenard, Walcker Compagnie in 1900 with Chenard in charge of design and Walcker sales and finance. Photo captured during Motorclassica event at Royal Exhibition Building held last October 2013.

Theme (Post#1) : Cave – Batu Cave

Batu Cave is one of the accessible cave in Malaysia for the tourist since its location has train station and accessible from the city. It was mentioned that the cave is one of the popular Hindu Shrines outside India. The cave itself contains lots of limestone and being preserve in our time. The huge statue beside the stairs to the cave is Murugan which considered as Hindu’s God. The snapshot captured last December 2012 which still part of our Malaysia adventure together with my youngest sister.
