Precious Moment In The Mountain : Donaghys Hill

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#26) : Donaghys Hill

Second best thing that I experienced during the tour in Tasmania was the time that we went to Donaghys Hill Lookout. We did a trek to reached the lookout and we had a 360 degrees views of amazing wilderness in the area. The lookout is almost at the center between Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park and Cradle Mountain – Lake St Clair National Park. The scenery were breathtaking. It was one of the moment that reminds me that the world is wonderful. Another picturesque that are hidden that can only be seen from the top with an effort. These photos are part of Tasmania Adventure Photo Collection June 2013.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#25) : Mount Ainslie

We reached Mount Ainslie Lookout which gave us the birds view of the capital city of Australia. And from the lookout itself, even though Canberra is a flat cit, the center of the city is situated between two mountains, namely Black Mountain and Mount Ainslie. This photo is part of Canberra Day Tour June 2013 Collection.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#24) : Mount Misen

While roaming around in Japan, one of the mountain that we had a chance to visit and even had a chance to trek a bit was Mount Misen. Mount Misen is considered as sacred mountain in Miyajima Island (Itsukushima Island). We enjoyed the scenery while we were on our way to the top through gondola and tram lift. And more when I reached the summit of the mountain. The photo above shows some of the islands that are visible from the mountain. Photo snapshot captured last September 2015.

Precious Moment In The Mountain : Athabasca Glacier

Columbia Icefield 1

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#23) : Athabasca Glacier

As I live in tropical country, snowy mountains and glaciers are rare places to me. When I visited Canada, I had an opportunity to see glacier. And the most memorable experience I had was when I was able to walk at the top of one of the most famous glacier in Columbia Icefields part of rocky mountains in Canada which is Athabasca Glacier. And another notable thing I will never forget was the experience of numbing of my hand  after I tried to create snow ball and very thankful I brought gloves. Photo captured last May 2008.

This site like Ayers Rock is a sacred to Aboriginal people in Australia. The photo above is one of the valley in between dome rock formation we saw after we did a short trek on one of top area inside Kata Tjuta. IMG_2209 Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#21) : Horse Hill Snow Play Park

When I got a chance to visit Mount Buller together with friends in Melbourne. One of the areas we did enjoy was Horse Hill Snow Play Park where we had fun of tobogganing activities. At first I was hesitant to try it out but when I saw a lot of people trying and enjoying it, I decided to try it as well. The first time I did it I really nervous because I was thinking what if something happen? And then some of my friends pushed me and there it goes, I passed the first time experience and then I climb back to the top to do it again, I did it many times until we decided to go to Mount Buller which just nearby. Moment captured last August 2013.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#20): Mount Kinabalu

My first formal climb happened in Mount Kinabalu which became my way to be a member of mountaineering group in my country through my colleague at work. This mountain is the highest mountain that I ever climbed even though I haven’t reach the summit and only reached the hotel (Laban Rata – 3200+masl). Cannot forget my first climb experience and had been an eye opener that even I had difficulty on this climb I really love mountains. Photo captured last September 2008.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#19) : Mount Hibok-Hibok (Catarman Volcano)

The photo above was the crater lake we saw while trekking Mount Hibok-Hibok in Camiguin Island Province last October 2012. To see this kind of area in the mountain you will not able to avoid thinking that we were actually walking at the crater of the mountain and tried to imagine what was it like here when this volcano erupted Mount Hibok-Hibok is categorized as a stratovolcano and recorded its recent eruptions in 1948, 1949 and 1950. The summit of this mountain measured with 1332 masl (meters above sea level).

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#18) : Mount Marami

I remember the climb we had on this mountain, it was the hottest climb experienced I had because we set the trek during summer season in my country. All of us emptied our bottle and we were struggling as all of us felt hydrated. It was good thing that it happened when we were on our way to descend the mountain. We saw a water source under a tree along the way and using water filter from one of our group we survived until we reached the jumped-off point again. The scenery is above is what they called Silyang Bato (Rock Chair) of Mount Marami and captured last April 2011.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#17) : Mount Austin (The Peak)

“The Peak” is the other famous name of Mount Austin. And popular to locals and tourist alike. The photo was captured during our second visit as it turned out that our first attempt was too cold for my mom to bear. Yes, this is one of the photo that I captured where I did not climb a mountain nor drive up to the summit, we took the tram to reach the summit. I can say that this is one of the summit that generated a lot of money because it has been developed to be one of the popular tourist spot in the island. Photo captured last January 2012.

Precious Moment In The Mountain : Mount Tangisan

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#16) : Mount Tangisan

I am a member of mountaineering group in my country wherein we used to help and aid group of people and mostly students who live in remote areas that does not have easy access of help from other charity groups. Unlike other communities that easily receive help and easily reach out by other non-government group we made a simple vow to help others. Because we used to climb mountains and we are exposed in difficulties, challenges and quite adventurer, our group combined some of the climbs with charity events. There were cases that it’s only charity focus. When we went to San Pedro in San Jose, Tarlac we did a charity activities for the students in the area. The place is actually quite remote as we passed huge farm and to my surprise I never expected such community as no concrete roads towards the place, we drove long rough road in the middle of farms. Beside the community, Mount Tangisan is also to be found. Since it’s near the area, the group decided to trek the mountain. Photo above captured last July 2012.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#15) : Dandenong Ranges

I had some visits in Australia where it involves families of my friends that I met while staying in Melbourne for more than one and a half-year. And when it involves families sometimes you will feel like you are young or a kid wherein one of the important thing in their life as of the moment is playtime. Well at that time we visited Puffing Billy Steam Train located in Dandenong Ranges. And we actually experience to ride the steam train. And one of the great benefit of that was having a chance to glimpse some views while inside Dandenong Ranges. The photo above was overlooking at Belgrave South while at the steam train captured last June 2013 after leaving Belgrave Station of Puffing Billy Railway.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#14) : Mount Apo Boulders

Mount Apo is the Highest Mountain in my country. I only knew this mountain by its name and by being the highest mountain. I never imagine before that time will come that I will be able to reach the summit of this mountain. I will never forget a risk life climb that I experienced on this magnificent mountain. Photo above was the boulder parts before reaching the crater and summit of the mountain which captured last March 2009.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#12) : Cradle Mountain

When I visited Tasmania Island in Australia, I included a tour for Cradle Mountain. The said mountain is located in the Cradle Mountain-Lake Saint Claire National Park and it is one the main tourist site in the island. During the tour we did one of the available walks in the said park. I love the photo above because of the scenic view of Crater Lake from within the Cradle Mountain. Photo captured last June 2013.

Precious Moment In The Mountain : Mount Cristobal

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#11) : Mount Cristobal

One of our preparation or training climb before conquering Mount Apo (The Highest Mountain in the Philippines) was Mount Cristobal climb. The said training was held last February 2009. Mount Cristobal was quite challenging mountain as there were some trails where we need to walk huge rocks full of moss which quite tricky as one wrong move will result to accident and injuries. One thing that I will never forget on this mountain was the part that we took a narrow trail, the side of it is a high cliff that one mistake life may cost it. Another thing that I never expect was we were depending on solid roots of the trees that strayed in the trail that helped us to grip and hold on to ourselves while passing the treacherous track. Photo above was just one of the views to see while inside Mount Cristobal.

My old post detailed the experienced I had when we climb Mount Cristobal.

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#9) : Mount Paldal (Paldal Mountain)

When we visited South Korea last June this year, we never realized that we trekked a mountain because of our eagerness to walk around Hwaseong Fortress and my senior mother able to climb the mountain with us. The photo above was one of the scenery within the fortress and its surrounding area to witness at the top of the mountain while we were at SeoJangdae (Western Command Post) Area inside Hwaseong Fortress.

Precious Moment In The Mountain : Mount Buller

Precious Moment In The Mountain (Post#8) : Mount Buller

I don’t know how to ski and never got a chance to learn this one as we don’t have alpine mountain back home. My country is tropical country and what we have are tropical mountains. I still dream that one day I may learn skiing. The photo above was the farthest point that I can take around Mount Buller in terms of how near I am in the summit of the mountain which is the Blue Bullet station where skier or sightseeing visitors can take a chairlift or ride up to the summit of the mountain. And at that time, the people in the queue were all skiers.

And aside from tobogganing, the next thing I can do is to take photos in the area. As too many people in the mountain and since its high peak season for the skier, I never got a chance to do basics skiing as we have a short period of time to spend in the mountain. But I really loved the snow which one of the unique experience I had in Mount Buller. Photo captured last August 2013.
